Indiaちゃんが今月４日に18歳で亡くなったそうです。

我家のKuropeeとそっくりの黒猫ちゃんで、

White houseのHPにも登場していました。

新しい大統領(Barack Obama)が誕生したと同時に、

Indiaちゃん無しでWhite houseからお家へ戻るBush Family・・・

なんだか、White houseの映像をNEWSで見かける度に

寂しい気持ちでいっぱいになってしまいます。

The first family leaving the White House this month will be without one of its longtime members: the Bush family's 18-year-old cat has died.The first lady's office said Monday that India, a black American shorthair named for former Texas Rangers player Ruben Sierra, died Sunday at the White House.Bush daughter Barbara, then 9, named the cat "India" after Sierra, a former major league player, whose nickname was "El Indio." President George W. Bush was a former co-owner of the Texas Rangers.When Bush daughters Barbara and Jenna went to college, the cat stayed at the White House with the president and first lady. The family affectionately called the cat "Kitty."

India died at the White House on January 4, 2009, at the age of 18.In a statement to the press regarding India's death, Sally McDonough, a spokesperson for First Lady Laura Bush, noted that the family was "deeply saddened" by their cat's death.An excerpt of the statement released to the press stated,

"India was a beloved member of the Bush family for almost two decades. She will be greatly missed."
